I was doing a little spring cleaning, found this one tucked away.  All fractures are healed, this material typically sells as fawn stone, from the Globe, AZ area. There is a lots of variations in this stone, it is fun to cut.   |

I have been around Globe a lot. Never saw that or even heard of it.

AzRockGeek @mohs posted “Dawn Rise” on this. At the time I wasn’t sure if he was identifying the rock, or describing it. Do you know what this rock is? Edit: Oh maybe this slab is also considered Fawn Stone, same as the sphere above?

Holy crap how did I miss this thread from May!? Thats a gorgeous sphere AzRockGeek! I love working with this material - it cuts and polishes smooth and easy like marble and takes a beautiful shine. |

The Fawn Japser that google shows is from the same deposit where the sphere came from. There is ton of variation in this materiel, most people that try and collect for profit there are only after the ones with the tight small dots (Similar to palm root) and leave materiel the sphere was made from in the tailings. Long ago, a local was selling it as 'poor mans palm'. |

I think both would make for nice spheres. I am going to get some more of the pink onyx for spheres this winter.

Beautiful sphere!! I have seen this material for sale under a couple of other names.  above 2020 at Barlow's Rock Yard in Tucson as Tigilitis below 2019 at Copper City Rock shop in Globe as Bohmeite   |

Beautiful sphere!! I have seen this material for sale under a couple of other names. I can add a few names to that list. From my understanding the ranch owner where the site is located are the Bohme family. I got the article below many years ago from a member here. It helps explain the Tidgillite or worm track names.  |
