I live in Central Texas which for rockhounding is a big step up from the “limestone in all directions” areas I have spent most of my life in. While I would really like to find some great agate specimens my most likely prize, on a day trip, will be some pet wood or Jasper. What do you hope to find rockhounding within say a 50 mile radius of where you live?

Fairburn Agates and Teepee Canyon Agates. Both are within a 50 mile radius of my home...

I keep hoping to find some interesting agates but the nice Texas agate areas are well out of my 50 mile range.

First step is to find a nearby water way start there. Search banks and gravel bars
