I see two, so I guess that's what Lee meant by it giving birth in the trailer.

Yeah, the lil guy is cute, quirky and unique, and the seller threw it into the deal at the already good price I paid for the 20" saw. After I get the honeydoos done today and move on to pressure washing and more pics I'll show them both in more detail. Like I didn't have enough projects already LOL.

Nice score! I have been eyeing that saw for a while. What brand is the 20? It kind of has a lortone look, but not.

Congtrats Lee!! Can't wait to see the details and pics...you know...weight...height...length...and time of the birth! LOL (I'd ask about gender...but I'm sure that they haven't decided that yet! LOL)

Nice score! I have been eyeing that saw for a while. What brand is the 20? It kind of has a lortone look, but not. I was wondering how I got there first. He may have more for sale, he's moving and has a LOT of stuff, and I think he may find the place he's moving to can't fit it all. Timing for me heading north being what it is I dare not ask. His name is Walter, belongs to the Apache Junction club, and he still has more saws than me. He also offered me a 40' container (empty, I think) for $2k but that would be a mistake, at least Elizabeth thinks so. I'll post todays pics in a bit, the 20 really rings a bell but I'm not remembering what it might be, and he didn't know.

Honestly… you can never have enough saws Right? I am still mapping out in my mind "so where could I drop that 40' container and Elizabeth not notice"?

Wish things like that would follow me home, although right now I'm not in the market for anything. Good score.

A little more. Don't think either will cut a rock before the end of July, too much to do. First the 20" saw. Todays pics, tomorrow or Thursday it will get casters attached and rolled back into the back, future saw room in the shop to be ignored for about 2 months. The feed on the back. Current motor is non-op, but it came with 2 brand new in what's left of the boxes Dayton gearmotors, pretty sure they are the same as the old Lortone motors, one is 4RPM and the other 7RPM The saw has a cover for the belt as well. The vice and carriage, the holes on the edge of the jaws appear threaded for either #12 or 1/4" flat tapered head screws as a slab grabber The 2 rows of holes in front of the rear vice jaw are for pins to be placed to hold the clamping portion of the vice, The vice carriage travels on the rails on bearings like square rail saws, but the rails are round, I think lortone did that but the vice isn't the same. Anyone know? I think the little 10" saw will be called Green, at least while it's green. The moving jaw of the vice is to the rear, and the screw feed is also the rail, maybe a 1" threaded rod, and it all is supposed to stay there by gravity, the vice just lifts off. There is a strange right angle gearbox on the side of the saw, didn't get a pic, and it leads to a driveshaft and pulley arrangement. But will it cut a rock? The arbor has bad bearings, hopefully something that's still available.

AzRockGeek thanks, one mystery solved. The designer may have been alta, all right. With a 12" blade this one would only have about an inch of oil in it, but some of them did that. Did you ever cut a rock with it? I'm concerned with the vice not being held down, a possible reason for the super thick blade that came in it. Looks like the feed drive is going to be pretty close to the O-ring for some of the little thumler tumblers. Now if I can just find suitable caster wheels for the 20", which box did I put them in?

Non-Sealed arbor bearings, what a concept. Pulley side is nice and tight but the blade side is pretty loose, probably get both anyway, ebay has some old stock fairly inexpensive. The arbor housing has the neat rod to align the blade with the vice, but with the funky vice feed screw/rail combo thing how does that work? I assume the Model T starter crank handle dealio on the front of the saw is a manual override for the auto feed?!? It also has no drain, tip to clean? I really hate welding steel that has been saturated with oil, but... Yeah I was going to not touch it, but I had to drill a new hole in the hitch height adjustments for my swaybar hitch and it was there, staring at me...

AzRockGeek an update. Based on a saw Brian Martell had at the NW shows the 20" saw is an Ideal Gearmotor for feed was moved to the back for whatever reason, reversed gearmotor from original? The front of the saw has an unpainted area that I'm guessing will match the motor mounting. I also discovered that they made lexan lids for some of them just like the old HP saws.
