Pretty neat geode Sands. That one looks like banded carnelian but sometimes the best plume is right up against the quartz pocket. I'll try to take a couple of pics of some of my biscuit cabs or slabs to show what I mean....mel

Texasrockhound: Favorite locations for those Texas biscuits are the Woodward Ranch and the Anderson Ranch both fee sites south of Alpine, Texas on the route down to Terlingua. Texas. And, if it's still there, there was a great rockshop down near Terlingua too featuring all kinds of south Texas and northern Mexico material at very good prices!...mel

Those are incredibly gorgeous!
So, how would I know, when I'm out picking up rocks, that a stone might have something like that on the inside? Is there something to look for ? a sign from above perhaps, with a flashing arrow pointing to the rock?

Wow! It looks like a Faberge egg!
And...I was wondering what the crust was called...crust! Oh, duh to me. Is that a standard term? Could I say, "I ordered a box of rocks and got mostly crust." ??
