Imagine the hours that go into something like that... Absolutely beautiful! I don't think I have seen one that sings before.

I'm amazed that's it's all wind up - no motor or anything. And look at all the stones set in the birds, and the dragonfly is to die for.
Made me think of Hans Mevis and all his cool metal sculptures.
But this French guy took that to a new height !
Pretty amazing,
Patty

I mean, think about all those gears he made (besides figuring out how to make it all work) and the little chains with the beads going around, keeping it in time.
And all the faceted stones set in it - did I mention the dragon fly & don't forget about the water lilies opening and closing.
Patty... awestruck.....

The mechanism alone is amazing, then all the decoration visible makes the project little hard to describe, certainly a brilliant effort. Wonder how long it took start to finish.

The Fontaine aux Oiseaux automaton . . . more than 25,200 hours of craftsmanship overall.
A look at his shop.
Some of the trades making another piece.

Thank You Rich, parfive, especially for the second video. I really don't think my skill level is up to faceting stones on a hand cranked flat lap. I'll have to work on walking & chewing gum at the same time, as a start.
Absolutely jaw dropping the craftsmanship.
Diamond encrusted, opal paneled butterflies, is not something I could have even imagined.
Patty .... more awestruck

Thanks to both of you for putting these videos up, just facinating what those people do.
