Triangles are my favorite shape. 3 points where two lines meet.

Nice! Is there something different you need to do when cabbing a shape like a triangle? I haven't ventured past circle or oval yet

Nice! Is there something different you need to do when cabbing a shape like a triangle? I haven't ventured past circle or oval yet Key to a good triangle is to keep your bevels equal to each other. Then when you begin to dome, your cab won’t look lopsided. It’s really like that for most stones.

I have found that the same technique works on different shapes. Material needs to be removed at the beginning and for triangles I grind straight to the girdle line on each side and then rock between two adjacent girdle lines for all three sets of adjacent lines. That produces three ridges. I grind the ridges until they match and then work circular until the highest point is in the center. A person could do the entire process working circular, rotating the stone above the girdle line until it is ground to the girdle line.

I like the contrast between the preforms and the finished cabs. Great enhancement, beautiful result.
