I had always heard of Etsy, and shipping to my skybox location should be easy.
Dude, thank you very much and its really great to learn about the minerals. The thunder egg video you posted was really really good! Lets see if my little one takes me up on my challenge to write what the geodes look like. I live a variety pack since it never gets boring. I like morocco geodes, but they lack variety

A fun sidenote. My excitement over geodes and minerals clearly pale in comparison to little one's.

Looks like I'm stepping into the conversation a little late, but personally I don't recomend a BD303 blade for water with a tile saw. They say on their own website that water without an additive is not good, and the RPM of a tile saw is faster than the range for a lapidary saw. They make a blade for cutting rocks in a tile saw with water, the BD305 agate kutter, which is the same blade as the less expensive BD225 hotdog blade.

Thanks 1dave for finding the pics. All steel blades will rust and have to be dried between uses, especially if it will sit idle for extended times. In a humid climate spraying with a rust inhibitor (NOT WD40!!!) is probably a good idea. A belt drive tile saw can be slowed down, not a direct drive. Yes, I know they make motor "speed controllers" for regular AC motors, but they can destroy a motor in a short time, if you need variable speed use a true variable speed motor.

So the blade that came with the skil saw is not good for geodes? It will work for awhile, just use a very light touch and be patient when hand cutting, and of course eye and ear protection. A 2" diameter geode should take between 8-10 minutes to cut, if you are doing it faster the blade will not last for long. Starting with a lesser quality stone to practice a couple cuts is a good idea, doesn't take all that long to get the feel for it though. 1dave you exaggerate. If you count trim saws I am a little over 10 saws, but only if you count the many in line for rustoration (spelling intended). Right now I am operating 3 slab saws and 2 trim saws, with a ryobi tile saw in reserve for when I want to get wet. sphereguy is the 50 plus saw guy.

I have my eye safety glasses, industrial ear plugs, 3M air mask and filters. And a Face shield. just in case. Will sit behind he saw and pull the rock towards me so the spray and grit does not hit me directly. Little one will be a distance in the house, but will give her ear protection.
