Jason jasoninsd - We find that same coral in our local SoCal desert, too. Actually we find a lot of different types of coral out there. Less than a two hour drive from home. Whoo hoo!

I really want to. But I have neither the tools nor the skills to do anything smart with these.
Unless you count a hammer and a tumbler...

It is a good looking bunch of rocks. Hammers and tumblers are good! There is! They shut down for the summer, however. I plan on joining in September. I can be a bit of an elitist in my other hobbies. While I'm sure I could figure something out with these, I don't want someone more experienced to look at my actions here and think "what a waste of some beautiful rocks." I could see myself saying that. I know I'm going to screw some stuff up as a part of the learning process and that's fine. But I feel I'd be knowingly jumping into the deep end here and guaranteeing some more experienced members here would shake their heads at me, haha. I know that "he who has the gold makes the rules," but I also don't want to botch something nice that someone else could better utilize.

I ended up flip flopping and buying them anyway. If nobody else wants 'em, they're mine to ruin!

Definitely more chock full than in the first photo! Thank you for your generosity, markymark and for the nice specimens! It will be hard to leave these bigger chunks alone until the lapidary club opens up again.
