Well My World Tumbling Contest Pet Wood is "just" about finished (dang it is 3 weeks sooner than I expected!) All in all I am overly thrilled with my results. These were a few rejects that got pulled after pre polish as they are filled with cracks and rough patches. This was some pretty attractive material and I'm going to struggle to find the best 5 pcs. ![](https://res.cloudinary.com/da2qrvsnz/image/upload/v1687527009/w7tzrcdmzzfalwejxovg.jpg)

Those close-ups are gorgeous!
N00b question: I've seen people on here use decorative stone for filler. Why would someone use this instead of ceramic media?

Cheaper than ceramic by far, and a bit easier on the rock (possibly). I used it as a test to see how well it cushioned this load (it worked great).

I use aquarium rock as well and mix it with ceramics in my vibe. For filler, I use scrap agate cuts, small moss agates and similar in my rotary tumblers. They last much longer then ceramics and are far nicer to look at during clean outs. I hadn’t thought about them being easier on the rock though. Most of my polishing is done in the vibe with ‘well broken in’ ceramics only. I always figured ceramics were easier on the rocks I guess…

Not sure on that. Ceramics should last longer as they are aluminium oxide (mohs 9) but on softer rock I think even well worn ceramics could "potentially" still provide cutting action. Either way I'm still getting "used" to using ceramics and using the vibe.

Either way I'm still getting "used" to using ceramics and using the vibe. I did not know that’s what they were made of. That’s interesting, thanks! I’m loving my little ray tech vibe 5. I’ve been running it near constantly since I got it several months ago. Not only for polishing, which it’s great at, but also for cleaning up rocks that we find, getting rid of tough crusty outer lime/clay layers to see if what’s underneath is interesting.

Those are looking really nice. Having a hard time picking finalist is a great problem to have!

The last picture was one I sent in. All my other pictures of the ones sent in were lost on giggle photos. (yea google, whatever). I absolutely hate my Google Pixel because I don't have a gallery anymore, but have to use photos. It is unreliable and has "failed to upload" way too many times. My contest rocks are already on their way. Oh well
