This board and its members have been inspiration to build my own tumbler. Drummond Island Rocks, Jugglerguy, and others, of course influenced this build. I started gathering parts around March, so it's been a long time in the works. I am NOT a woodworker, so this turned out even better than I could have imagined when I started. 1/4hp motor, capacitor start, with fan. Now that it's running, I do see a mistake in rigid-mounting the motor to the top. I'll add some rubber dampening pads tomorrow. It resonates like a subwoofer box. haha So, some tweaks will surely happen in the coming weeks. There's NO way I saved money building this as compared to just buying new tumblers, but it turned into a really fun project.

Awesome work! For not being a woodworker, it looks like you did a very nice job. Everything looks nice and solid.

K now stick it in your living room and put your tv on top of it.š¤ I think youāve got a new business there, tumbler cabinets that double as regular furniture. šš Thatād be completely normal by the way. If your neighbors look at you funny thereās something wrong with them.

Awesome work! For not being a woodworker, it looks like you did a very nice job. Everything looks nice and solid. It was a learning experience from beginning to end. So many measurements impact other things like a chain reaction. One thing is I really underestimated how much it would weigh. Itās got to be pushing 80 to 90 pounds. Maybe more.

That is probably one of the nicest home-built tumbler cabinets I've ever seen mgroothuis! You should be VERY proud of that beast!!

That's a serious tumbler! You're going to be waist deep in shiny stones in no time!

This motor mount has proven to be a challenge to eliminate the vibration, but I think it was sorted last night. It seems to be much quieter so far. I bought a longer belt, raised the motor up on a wooden platform, and added about 3/4in of rubber washers under the platform as a vibration cushion. A little more staining and polyurethane, and it's back together again. Update, here's a photo. That did the trick! It's remarkably quiet now.

I'm surprised after 4 months, I had to replace two pillow block bearings. I did that this morning. They had plenty of grease, and still spun freely, but there were metal shavings piling up around each, and they clunked a little on each rotation. Anyone else have this problem in a build of their own? A cheap fix, but didn't expect that.

I have lost a couple pillow block bearings way too soon, did good maintenance but I think as with so much other stuff now the quality has slipped. You sure did a nice job on that piece of furniture.
