James, is the stone wet or does it have desert polish? What do you think it is?

James, is the stone wet or does it have desert polish? What do you think it is? They are naturally coated with desert varnish, and are dry.
No idea what these are. Only picked them up because they would be great for someone who makes the wire trees with stones in them. These would be great bases.
Found something similar like this I brought back just to show people that many rocks in the desert can look like meteorites since I see so often on rock boards thinking any unusual rock has to be a meteorite, especially if magnetic. Not the case. So, I brought this one back as people will mistake the dips for ablation marks on a meteorite, and as you can see a magnet sticks to it. Nothing I could see interesting inside though. I ground a window, and if I recall right, it was pretty much just off white inside.

Is that a magnet on the last one? Not a meteorite is it 😂 No, not a meteorite. That was the idea about bringing it home though. I am constantly seeing posts on some of the other rock boards I am on where people are posting everything from basalt to slag, and each time there are people claiming it is a meteorite. Especially if a magnet sticks to it, or if it ha anything that looks like regmaglypts (ablation marks) like these kind of loo like. So I brought this home and took the photos of the rock with a magnet sticking to it to show that not all magnet attracting rocks or rocks with weathering that looks like regmaglypts are meteorites.

Over a hundred tons of space dust falls on Earth every day. The "Black Sand" found every where are the burnt up remains of iron meteorites. Most of the stuff that is falling now are from the Apollo Asteroid belt. The Main comet they came from was made of Iron, Sulfur, Nickle, Cobalt, and Iridium. Most places where nickle is mined they also find iridium. An unrecognized Apollo asteroid Impact Site. One of them killed off the dinosaurs. Did you know the best spark plugs for your car have iridium tips? This looks like it has flow bands. Volcanic or metamorphic? It would be interesting to slice one open to see if the pits once contained calcite or something soft that has weathered out.

I don't plan to cut these. I am leaving them as is and will trade them. Figured they would be really nice bases for people who make the wire trees.
