khara Please do post some pictures I would love to see them! I have both rotary and vibe. I use the rotaries for shaping and then go to the vibe for 120 through polish. I’ve done a few rotary only batches but I like the instant (in a week or week and half) gratification of vibes. At home, for now, I have two nat geo rotaries (don’t make fun of me people, I actually think they’re pretty good machines and they have awesome customer service!) a Rebel 17, and a lot-o. My daughter has a lortone 33-b. I am hoping to get a UV-10, 18, or 45. They are awesome machines. At work I use three thumblers model B’s for rotary, a mini-sonic, double lot o, three UV-10, a UV-18, and a UV-45. (Side note, one of the “UV-10’s” is actually from a different company called Grobet USA but the are identical except the Grobet has two “spouts” on it that we just plugged with a screw. So far it runs the same as the thumblers brand.) khara - I'm also in the Nat Geo camp. I may not buy another (I really love my loratone), but the one we have has served us amazingly well. No issues period - other than the lid coming off once and that was our fault, not the machine

rocknewb101 Good to know. I would’ve given anything to have one of those as a kid! I’m glad they are more accessible nowadays - and that there are both beginner/kid models as well as more stout ones. We do have a rotary. But I do like the idea of adding a vibe at some point for the speed that people talk about here.

When you tumble glass do you have to do it with only glass in the whole 3 lb rotary ? Or could I mix in some clear/amber agates (montana) to fill it up ??
The stuff I have is already rounded, so figured to start with stage 2, in rotary. Any clue how long ??
I also seem to find mixed info, do you leave it at 120 or go through pre-polish & polish ??
Thank for any input.

You could also just put what you have in there and fill it the rest of the way with ceramics. If it is thinner pieces of glass, I would be careful with agates. I would leave it for a few days then check it and put it in for longer if it needs. It depends on how you want it to look if you want frosted glass you can stop at 120/220 or go up to 500 for a day or so. If you leave it in the 500 for too long though, it will start to get a polish. If you want it glossy then leave it in 500 for longer and take it to polish if you want. It just depends on how you want it to look. Stop it when you’re content.
