I’ve been looking for rough lapis lazuli and saw this website. I’ve looked on other websites and it’s been quite expensive. This website had cheap rough. I’m wondering if it’s legit and if it’s actual lapis lazuli. Mineral Miners.com has quite expensive pieces

I’m wondering if it’s legit and if it’s actual lapis lazuli. Mineral Miners.com has quite expensive pieces I've never ordered from them, but I did look at their website. A couple things: they do take major credit cards, as well as Apple Pay and PayPal. Those are all forms of payment which protect the buyer...so you do have recourse if something goes awry. I don't like that they don't have any indication on their website as to where they're actually located. Most websites will have a physical address of some sort somewhere on their website. The website was "created" or updated in 2023...so relatively new to a point.

Yes. I was also looking for more info on the website and didn’t really find a way to see more about them. I will probably pass on them. The prices don’t match with what I’ve seen elsewhere

I did a little more looking. I guess they have an actual store in Evanston, IL. Well, they say so and have pictures of the inside of a rock and gem store. I looked on many other lapis websites and the prices were very high compared to Rock & Gem. I’m looking for some afghan rough lapis that’s deep blue with gold specs. I’d like to keep one rough and maybe tumble/ polish the other

There is a lot of lapis being offered by fb sellers that I buy from. The Highland Park zoom rough auctions had a ton of lapis for sale. From scraps to boulders. I don't buy lapis so I can't evaluate their prices. The stuff was being gobbled up.

I believe I bought some from roughstone about a year ago. I felt it was fairly priced, but maybe something has changed. Just went there and looks like 1 lb is $10. I don't know if that's expensive or not...

Price is usually related to quality. Deep blue lapis with pyrite spangles amd little or no white calcite is on the upper end of the quality scale. The last high quality lapis I bought over 10 years ago was $4/gram and that was a deal at the time. I imagine current prices are as high or higher.

I agree with gemfeller, if you want top grade lapis it will cost. There is no free lunch.
