Quite a few different materials here to include: Carrasite, Dino bone, old stock Crazy lace, Kaleidoscope jasper, Amethyst/quartz stuff, Teepee Canyon, Kaily agate, & some mystery stuff too. I love cutting, but I’m new to cabbing -so pointers are always welcomed - these are all up to 6k as I don’t care for the cerium felt pad yet , here’s one of the Kaily agate pieces: Amethyst/quartz stuff: One of the dino bone pieces:

Wow. You have plenty to practice on! That Kaily agate is gorgeous.

You are having fun and productive at the same time. You are producing nice looking stones. Keep enough variety to preserve your enthusiasm.

I really like the pattern in that dino bone, it's inspiring me to dig out any I have to cab some.
Thanks, Patty

azgnoinc - WOW! You've got some GREAT material to work with!! Of course I honed right in on that Teepee Canyon Agate! That Kaily Agate and the Dino Bone are killer examples! Ok...you said pointers are welcomed... I'm not sure how your girdle is coming out. I always mark my girdle line and make sure I don't go below that line when I'm shaping the dome...

Thank you for the pointer, I fully admit that 7mm slabs/preforms & skinnier I struggle with a girdle AND doming it, but less than 50 cabs into cabbing I’m still a total rookie. The Teepee Canyon is coming soon & it’s a skinny piece so I’ll see what I can do with it.

It looks like you're getting a great polish on them, which is more than half the battle!

Wow - really really like that Kaily agate! Another I've not heard of. The girdle is my hardest challenge, I think. I find that on one side it'll be lower than the other - jason's girdle line tip helped me tons, except sometimes I go over that line ...I'm also a new cabber! It's interesting to me how different material 'works' differently on the discs - always something new to learn!

The Kaily agate is pretty rare & no longer mined, I got a slab of it & a chunk of Jessite from John Huesler back in 2014 - he named his finds after his daughters.
