Congratulations to the winners! I wish I can have 10 votes... Thanks PS! Hopefully there weren't any "hanging chads" in this one! LOL

Hopefully there weren't any "hanging chads" in this one! LOL Actually...there was one...kinda I'm not sure if the vote would have changed or if I shoulda/woulda done it different but I do feel pangs of missed opportunity for the person who entered it. One contestant sent in two beautiful cabs and a wonderful note about honoring Ed and not being able to decide which one to enter. As Eva was unwrapping them she explained the situation and asked if I wanted to see the stones or the note and of course I said NOOOOOO! Instead I asked her to pick the one she liked the best and was most likely to wear, which wasnt easy but she did. Turns out the one that didn't get into the contest was a third beautiful heart shape I have told Eva all about Ed's passing and our efforts to get the bench, and she remembers meeting him at Qz, but what I never mentioned was his rockin hearts so the symbolism of the potential entry was lost Anyway, it's a beautiful stone made with love in memory of Ed, and I will proudly feature it in the contest cabs auction which I should have up and running by Friday-ish. Thank you taylor BTW I really love your shield shape cab and can see why Eva picked it.

Big congratulations to jasoninsd and liveoak. Your work stood out in a very talented group! Thanks again to Tommy for doing this. I really appreciate the scoring grid. It's good to see where I did good and not so good. After my score on scratches I realize I need to examine with my Optivisor even more!

I really appreciate the scoring grid. It's good to see where I did good and not so good. That's exactly what I thought - it's the first time I've had someone (besides Tom) offer input like that.
That alone was helpful.
Not sure if you've seen it mentioned before, but someone suggested a light magnifier next to the cabber.
That was a game changer for me - see things I wish I didn't - better than the Optivisor & more handy.

Really fun contest! Thank you Tommy for doing all the admin on this. And thanks to everyone who entered. I enjoy seeing the collection of cabs all made by different people from the same rock. It’s really quite neat. Congrats to the winners! I did really enjoy the faux mended broken heart style using the material formations and ultimately that’s what got me. And then 3rd place, I just love the unique, natural shape. jasoninsd liveoak opalpyrexiaIt’s really interesting though. I struggled with the vote. Even being able to choose three I still had a hard time narrowing it down. I waited a long time to finally vote and kept going back and forth, it turns out between the ones that ultimately ended up on top vs down towards the bottom. I really like the druzy pocket and quartz areas in a couple of those and they definitely gave the hearts a tough competition Rockoonz rockbrain. I actually liked something in particular about every single cab. This tells me it was a pretty even playing field throughout! 👍 This was fun and I think should be done again from time to time.

Honestly couldn’t tell who’s was who’s. I had suspicions, but turned out I was way off ha. You’re all pimp rockstars. Nice work.

I have to agree with khara, it was interesting to see everyone else's take on the exact same material. Truth be told,I was convinced that #9 was the winner out of the gate, and likely one of the hearts as second. Interesting how it worked out.
I'm wondering/nervous what rock Tommy will come up with for next year, as I hope he continues this tradition, at least I think I hope.....

No worries Tommy ! About an hour after I dropped the package in the mail I realized that it could be taken as two contest entries when I was thinking of two cabs for the auction. I am completely satisfied with Eva's choice! Awesome creativity everyone! Congratulations to jasoninsd and liveoak. Thank you Tommy for making this happen! So much fun to have the same material and the same photography. I am glad that we can honor Ed in this way.

Congrats to the winners! All cabs were beautiful and it was hard to choose just three. Goal for Ed accomplished and lots of fun to be had by not only the entrants, but the rest of us as well.

Truly excellent entries everyone! The variety and quality of them all were stunning. Congrats to Jason and Patty on earning the top spots in that very tough lineup! Great idea for the benefit cab contest, Tommy! I'm sure it was a lot of work but the end result is spectacular!

I thought I knew which one was jasoninsd and I was completely off. I did nail @fencejumpers though. Hmm, 50%, that's a failing grade! I have to agree with khara, it was interesting to see everyone else's take on the exact same material. My son in law looked at them together and we both had 9 as a runaway win.
