Carnelian heart in gold-filled. And I've learned there's no better way to tweak than to look at a greatly enlarged picture of what I've done, so already I know I need to tighten that little swirl at the top and even out the drops from the bail. I like this one--in large part because the carnelian is sufficiently translucent that the gold wire on the back shines through. Done with 24-gauge square wire, and I *think* I used 21-gauge half round.

Dang, that’s beautiful. Thats cabbed though, right? There’s no way to get a tumble looking that deliberate.

Love it Susan! Beautiful! Thank you, Ashley--actually the wrap was quite simple since the carnelian is gorgeous through no fault of mine.

Very pretty. Did you cut the cab? I keep meaning to try a carnelian. It seems much of it can have fractures running through…

Susan, I really like the way you chose to follow the pattern with the front containing wire...or whatever that wire is called! Beautiful cab. I also love what you did with the bail wires!!

It seems much of it can have fractures running through… I cut this, but it was from a small piece, has a fracture in it, although it's stable, and a soft spot that you can (sort of) see upper left as you look at the front. You can see it a bit more on the back. I also cut around some problem areas, which is what brought me to heart shaped. It was just too darn pretty though to not ignore the issues. And thank you, Khara.

Thank you, Jason. "Containing" works, at least one hopes it works. The extra bail wires did what they did because I hate, really hate, adding gold-filled wire to my scrap pile. I've adapted with silver, but not gold.

I have to agree with others, that is lovely Susan ! The stylized heart, with a nicely polished back is super nice on it's own. But,the wrap works to emphasize it's beauty.
Thanks for sharing it, Patty

Ooooo- I love the way the wire on the front follows the flow of the stone. There's a lot to like here! I do have a question, though- did you mean to say that you made this with 24g? Wow! Color me impressed. The stone looks fairly big. I have to offer a critique- the wires that come down and across on the back look very tenuous. I would wrap them around that wire one more time.

What eagle eyes you have! I am working with 24-gauge wire now on Patty's challenge, so that's what came out of my fingers. I shall call that "focus" rather than encroaching senility. It is 22 gauge square--the only gauge I had sitting around in gold-filled square that would come close to working. You are absolutely correct with the looseness of the back--I'm still in purgatory on evening out the twisted wires at the top so held off on tightening them more. The one on the right is fairly secure, the one on the left, well, no.
