This may be a dumb question: Is there any Descutes or Biggs that looks like sandstone prepolished? I have some looks just like Biggs or Descutes, but it has a rough texture. I have never seen sandstone with such saturated color and scenes.

Here's the other one. I was wondering about that, too, jasoninsd but I don't think so.

amygdule What do you think of this? I have a better one, but I don't have a picture. Actually, I don't know that much about the various types of picture landscape rocks. You mentioned sandstone that looked like Biggs, and Kanab was my first thought. I think maybe the African Queen is a good guess ? It looks grainy compared to picture jaspers from Oregon. amygdule64

Thanks! That link took me down a rabbit hole. Lots to see.
The seller only said Biggs Deschutes. I don't think it's African Queen, but it does look a little like the Georgia Queen. Not sure about the color, though. If it is I'll be happy because the claim is that it cabs well. Seems to be quite rare. I found virtually nothing on line. In fact, most hits bring you to RTH.

I have a similar piece that is in the tumbler right now. Should be done in about a week, will post it when it is done to show if it polished or not. Can't wait to see it. Yours has the look of Biggs to me. Mine doesn't have any dendrites. Love me some dendrites. That will be nice all polished up.
Is it smooth or rough?

rockjunquieWe have some biggs and it is different texture but similar look. This piece is a bit more grainy and rough. But not so grainy it feels like sandstone or anything but for sure more rough and grainy then jasper.

Going by the pictures, mine looks grainy or rough. I have had some Biggs before that was a little rough.

Interesting. I'm following. I've got a 3/4 inch thick huge slab of something very similar.

Tela, I have no idea what your slab is, but there was a road cut in Kentucky, just over the Virginia line, where there were huge pieces of sandstone with a variety of patterns similar to what you are displaying. I dragged a bunch back to my house to build a "rock staircase." I don't recall ever trying to tumble any. Was your seller from northeast Kentucky? It was on the road from Pound, VA to Jenkins, KY, just over the KY line.

Just got the slabs in. They had a soft sheen like they had been hardened / stabilized and a slight odor. I wiped them down with acetone and determined that it was just saw oil. So, what I have is very probably Biggs. Maybe some would call it Deschutes, but I'm thinking it's closer to Biggs. I conversed with the seller and he's sticking to Descuted/Biggs. Whatever they are, they are just as nice in person. Can't wait to cab them.
