If you hadn't said it was one of your Pappy's rocks, I would have bet ANY amount of money that was a Prairie Agate I sent you!! Spittin' image I tell ya!! Yup!! Pretty cool, isn’t it!? Really cool actually! I had to go look at the pics again this morning...and it definitely looks 100% Prairie Agate like we have up here. Pretty amazing!!

My mom told me that my great grandfather and great grandmother likeed to drive all over Texas and Louisiana visiting family and camping. That was literally back when cars were still a novelty. I’m going ask my mom if they never went to any other states. Otherwise, just like you said when I first joined, our jasp-agates/banded chert rock things, just look very similar to yours there in the Dakotas.

Wouldn't that be something if they had made it all the way up here "back in the day"??

So either rocks from there traveled here via rivers and glaciers, or we just have similar conditions and minerals as y’all, just maybe not as much concentrated in certain areas. I do have numerous other rocks that look similar to yours. I get thrown off sometimes and have to go back through my photos to make sure what they are. I’ll be posting photos of these rocks in the coming weeks. Many are nearing the polish stage finally.

Well I know what this one is!! Llanite. Only found in the Llano river here in south central Texas. This one is huge though, compared to what I’ve found in the river. It’s several pounds.
