I like it. The polish looks like it came out brilliantly. The different hues of blue are very pleasing to the eye. If you look closely with a loupe you might find some areas have little "starbursts" of blue rutile in the quartz pockets. Theres still a ~10lb chunk I have in my bins I need to get to work on. And Ive been searching for a decent piece of facet grade rough that wont break the bank. Something like this one...

Beautiful! I've never seen this before. It looks like softer material?

Thank your for keeping us apprised of your daughter's color preferences throughout the process. I feel bad laughing at your expense, but that is hilarious. 😆
P.S. Nice rocks! Thank you for sharing.

Beautiful! I've never seen this before. It looks like softer material? It has a mohs hardness of 7, but is kinda brittle. It tended to chip, more so in the black areas than the blue areas. Some of them also had a very spongy texture that didn't polish at all. Look in the 2nd picture. The light blue one in the very top left was like this, but it took a very light shine. The tip of the one in the top middle was like this. They didn't feel spongy coming out of coarse so I left it to add a bit of color variance.

Yeah, I can see how some is more matte/satin while other areas are super shiny. I really like it!! You use a vibe, right?

Wow!! I have a new favorite rock. I’m going to have to research that, it is beautiful. Thanks for posting. Is the Imjur thing that you’re using for posting pics fairly easy to figure out? I need to get away from Cloudinary and am looking for other options.

Where did you happen to get it by the way? I ordered it from Meeko's Mine. A lot of what they sell is cut and and not crushed, which is why it's so blocky. It has its pros and cons. Can't deny everything I've ordered from them has been excellent quality though. Imgur is very easy to figure out. You don't even need an account if you don't want one. Just go to the site and click the new post button in the top left. If you don't have an account, you have to watch a short ad. After you upload your pictures, it'll give you an album. You can share that URL as a link like I did. To embed the pictures in the forum, click the insert image button above the text field. When looking at an Imgur album, you can right click an individual picture and choose copy link. It'll be worded slightly different depending on your browser of choice. Copy the link to the image and then in the forum paste it into the URL field that comes up when you click insert picture. It's easier if you make an account to find stuff you've uploaded though. For example, here are all my posts.

For example, here are all my posts. I have actually ordered from them once before. And I didn’t like the sawed rock so much. I really like to keep some of the original shape whether it be natural or broken. Square blocks kind of bug me. But it’s such a beautiful material that I may go ahead and get some from them if I can’t find it elsewhere. Thank you! I appreciate you letting me know. OK, when I get home, I’m gonna try to follow your directions for doing pictures and also check out your posts. Does it work for cell phone or do you need to be on a desktop? I do everything from my cell phone. Many thanks!

Just kidding around 3 year old girls change their mind with the wind it would seem. Love those stones you did a flawless job on them save some she may come back to blue. Keep tumbling

I’m not familiar with this rock-it’s very pretty! I really like the bottom two in the 3rd photo.

I’m gonna try to follow your directions for doing pictures and also check out your posts. Does it work for cell phone or do you need to be on a desktop? I do everything from my cell phone. Many thanks! They do have an app, and I have had issues uploading with it before in the past, but I just did a quick test and it worked fine. My phone is running Android 13. The biggest hurdle you'll face is actually using this forum if you want to share the pictures embedded in the post. Because, by default, the mobile version of the forum only shows the text box for typing in. It does not show any of the options above the text box that the desktop version of the size has. So you'd need to tell the site to show you the desktop version, which does not work well on smaller screens at all. Once you've got the above bar showing, to get the URL from the Imgur app, you go to your account tab, open the post, tap an individual picture, and then hit the arrow pointing to the right under the picture. It'll ask how you want to share it, and you should be able to just select copy to get the URL. Alternatively, once you create the post in Imgur, you can just share the link to it. You can make an Imgur post public or private, but anyone with the URL can still access it if private. It's more like unlisted.

I think what you're seeing in the image you posted are blue dumortierite xl inclusions in clear quartz, not rutile. Rutile is a different mineral. It's the primary ore of titanium and is generally reddish to gold-colored. It's also a fairly common inclusion in quartz, leading to the term "rutilated quartz." Fine specimens of dumortierite xls in quartz like you posted are beautiful, fairly rare and highly collectible. Also, pretty expensive, as you note.
