That's pretty impressive that you wrapped a round tumble.
I like the flattened base wire- it looks like a Grecian frame with a vine around it.
Nicely done.

Sweet job! I love how the rock looks aged like the wire. It could be an ancient amulet of some sort. Your vines came out real nice.

Thanks Patty. The flat back of the tumble helped. Sweet job! I love how the rock looks aged like the wire. It could be an ancient amulet of some sort. Your vines came out real nice. Thank you Tela. That actually isn't the rock that was supposed to end up in it. I had a little pile spilled out that I was choosing from and ended up with the wrong one. That's what happens with a perpetually messy work station. rockbrain - Great execution on the design! I really like the hammered sections!! Thanks Jason. I need to get a ball peen hammer so I can dent it properly. I had to use the back of a ratchet handle. I plan on using this ring design more. I have a lot of ideas for it including trapping a stone (or sharks tooth) in kind of a spider web design in the center.

Oh, my! No "love" button! Forging is (I think) my favorite thing to do with wraps, and you executed it to perfection. The vines are perfect contrast to the textured, flattened wire. I like the way the stone is atached as well--neat enough, but not so "precise" that it doesn't work with the ancient quality of what's above it. Two thumbs and toes up!

So look for your oldest steel part (or a railroad tie) and texture away!

I have all kinds of rusty old metal stuff that I still haven't got rid of down at my shop. (my dad did blacksmithing and restored old farm machinery) I should be able to come up with some really cool textures.

So, it's done! Banded calcite in 21-gauge wire. Originally the chain was going to hang straight down and thus "dangle," but the cat from h*ll rearranged it and I rather liked it connected. Not sure about LOS--has anyone ever done it with calcite? I may try Hummingbird Stones' paint brush method. I need to work on it a bit more because the upper portion is supposed to accent the (fill in either erupting volcano or tornado) and it shifted a bit while completing the bail. This took awhile, in large part because I kept thinking of Rockbrain's Christmas avatar and kept laughing. One does not do their best wire work while laughing. Back needs some "clean-up" as well, but as I have no reputation to protect so I'm adding the "not so great" photo.

I see the explosive volcano wrap & the top fits in the theme perfectly.
I guess the chain (if it was a tornado) would be what you were supposed to hold onto .
Seriously, I like the chain, and the shiny bead, it adds a nice contrast of textures.
And the wrap is very complimentary to the stone.
I like how your top prong/loops accentuate the volcano explosion. Nicely planned !
I was telling my husband over breakfast, how much I hate wrap backs, some of the time.
Personally, I was working on one last night & of course the things you learn the first time could be changed/fixed if you were inclined to just re-do the wrap, then & there. But alas, that is not always in the cards- so we just hope we learn for the next time.
Maybe, after we've all done 1000's of them it will be second nature (but in my case I doubt it).
Thanks for the inspiring wrap,
Patty

Susan, I need a cat like yours. It's very talented. Seriously I like that. Being Star Trek fan it reminds me of the Bejoran jewelry. Prolly spelled that wrong. Anyway. I like the whole piece. It came together nicely even the back- which isn't as bad as you think.

liveoak rockjunquie, thank you ladies! I decided that the longer I "tinker" with the design the less I like the outcome--it's kind of like the old adage that one should never fix dinner for a love interest because no matter what he/she won't live up to your expectations after all that work. My cat has his ups and downs--I still haven't found the blue lace agate cab that is likely under the stove, but I really didn't want to wrap it anyway. I really do appreciate your seeing what I was trying to do.

I thought of one of those biker wallet chains when I saw it. I'm glad someone else thought of my Christmas avatar. Not why I picked dangling, but that avatar was all I kept thinking about every time I thought of dangling!

Thank you, Jason, for once, the cat did well. . . rockbrain , how could one not think of your avatar, it was just so, um, "memorable." And thank you for the compliment. Biker chain, hmmm. Yesterday I made a trip to Spokane to see a play and saw huge chain on the back of a truck, and I mean H.U.G.E. My first thought was "that's too heavy for a necklace." This hobby does something to you.

OK, I finally got my dangling cabs done.
2 different Jaspers = Red with strange metallic inclusions on top / Kaleidoscope bottom. I liked it - so I put a leather cord on it & I'm going to wear it as a pendant.
Thanks for the challenge - can't wait to see what Tela picks for Oct.

I love it! You have avoided the "clunky" by the choice of stones, and what a great choice you made! On top of that, each stone's wrap could stand by iteself--they are both interesting and creative. I especially like the way the coiling ties it all together. Truth be told, I've been waiting for your entry--you always step up to the challenge in very large steps.

Thank you susand24224 - I went to bed last night with a smile on my face over your review
It's my first double stone wrap & my first dangle.
And shockingly it actually came together mostly the way I planned. Thanks for your encouragement.

liveoak Patty, let me say first that I love those stones together! Great picks. The wrap is very organic looking to me. It really reminds me of Fall. I love all the textures going on. Thanks for the side picture. It's always best if a pendant lie flat- that's what I am for. Yours is perfectly flat despite there being 2 elements.
The back is neat, too. Speaking of backs... whenever I hand DH a wrap to look at the first thing he does is flip it over. Whenever I, or my daughter, are out wearing a piece, at least 3/4 of the people who stop to look want to turn it over and look, too. I learned long ago to try to make it neat.
Great job all around.....
I'm drawing blanks for Oct- so far.
