Figured I'd start a general geode thread where folks can post pictures of the geodes they have cut. If one exists that I couldn't find I am happy to revive it and delete this one! I cut this Mexican coconut today. It has a beautiful matrix of smokey quartz.

I just pulled this Keokuk off of the flat lap on Friday. I had a couple more matched pairs that I polished at the same time, but I sold them at the market I was at on Sunday. I snapped this picture really quick after I realized I didnt take pics of the others before they sold.

Cool. I can’t wait to get a saw!! lol You dont always need to saw them open. The saw cut it nice if you want to polish around the rim, but you can crack them pretty easily with a soil pipe cutter. If you know any plumbers, ask them if they have a soil pipe cutter and get to crackin! lol edit to add...Im actually cracking open a geode with that tool in my profile pic

If you had some you wanted cut, I’m sure someone here would cut them for you if you sent them out and covered shipping. I would but I don’t use PayPal or anything like that.

Heres one of the bigger Keokuk geodes I cracked with the soil pipe cutter. It had some cool reactions in 365nm UV light too. Nice geode! That purple and turquoise are beautiful.

Here's a trancas geode from Mexico that I just pulled off the vibe lap a couple days ago. We have been calling it the petrified fetus 😬
