I am looking for metal hardness points with out the expensive handles and case. Anyone know of a source? I am not looking for equivalent materials like glass, penny, & etc.

Looks like those are chips of rock glued to handles, a 5-9 set is $121. and a 3-9 is $167 The concrete lab version, double pin vices with steel and alloy pins in the equivalent hardnesses, is $130 on Amazon for a full 2-9 set. There may be a source just for the replacement pins, find your own pin vices and bag to put them in, being sure to label them. Personally I haven't gone down the hardness rabbit hole, yet, but I learned a lot about the "anyone can do a specific gravity test with a cheap scale and a container of water" myth from comparing the results from the you-tube experts method to a real specific gravity tester in the lab at the company where I worked. Definitely not close enough. If you're just sorting rocks to tumble, just keep a few samples and call it good, if you want to identify accurately break out the wallet.

I totally read that wrong...I thought the whole set was $35. Big Oops!
