Since I don't see an existing thread on this, figured would start one. Last year, I went to the Pow Wow, and to Desert Gardens. I enjoyed both and they are different. But I didn't get to Tyson Wells. If you have been to all 3, I would enjoy knowing if there is any reason for me to go to it.

I will be there for the last half of January and the first part of Feb. I will be all over AZ but will be probably based for a good part of the trip in Q.
Who else is going?
What else do you need to mention or ask the group about?

Sasha and I definitely want to make it. Since she started wrapping she is dying to get back there for stones, supplies, etc. wallet be damned lol. A little closer to Dec and we will work out the actual dates to be there and I may lead the club purchasing field trip there again too. Quartzsite is our Super Bowl!

We hit all 3 Bob. I’d say Desert Gardens is my favorite with The Pow Wow a close second. We always seem to find some rock related stuff at Tyson Wells but usually buy more supplies and misc crafty type stuff there. Tyson Wells definitely has the best prices on rockhounding supplies like classifiers, gads, chisels, and other outdoor/camping/tool type stuff. Some of the tools are Harbor Freight type stuff so check quality carefully. For the prices on most of that type stuff you really can’t go wrong there.

Thinking about finding a cheap place to put the trailer for a month so we have a spot to sleep instead of the almost 4 hours driving for a day trip. Mark K maybe we can run to Date creek or Burro creek.

For those planning to go, keep in mind we are working diligently to have a memorial bench placed for Ed mohs at the Phoenix Zoo. I only mention this as some have already expressed an interest in having a get-together at the bench while at Q. Phoenix Zoo is about 2 hours from Q, so it's not a simple day trip, so to speak. That said, as the bench project progresses, and if it looks like it will happen, we'll update with a separate thread.

Otherwise it will be over-run with off topic stuff that is already covered in the other threads.

Plus, there are rumors of some real cool stuff in the area outside of BC.

Mark K and Bob do you guys care if I merge your two Q-24 threads? Great minds thinking alike as they say but we typically end up with one mongo-thread going.

Thanks quartzilla. I have a plan for next time if I go. Arrive in Pow Wow early on first morning to get just a few things from a few vendors I like there. Head over to Desert Gardens to do a quick look and scan the only part (maybe 1/4) that I didn't get to last time. That place is big! Then to Tyson Wells. Then head into the desert for collecting for 2 days and go on Fri evening to Tony's BBQ again. And back into desert on Sat. So my main reason for going this time will be the desert not Quartzite but I sure look forward to seeing people again! I remember you were there though I can no longer see your face in my memory. Am I right you were there with your wife?

I was looking at this as a one stop shop, but that's perhaps best addressed in a separate thread when the time comes. I've edited my post to clarify that.

Eff... I thought I was deleting my post and I accidently deleted realrockhound's "me like Mongo" post. Sorry about that! Thats why I keep posting from my phone to a bare minimum.

Sometime after they get a couple frosty mornings up there and the diamondbacks go into hibernation I want to scout out a couple spots the Q club wagonmaster told me about. Also the spot where the old books say there is pet palm.

I justified me going rockhounding by telling her I’d take her somewhere warm during the winter 😂

Second hand smoke from someone smoking reefer. That was you right? OMG that was me! Every time now I handle a rough piece of prehnite I think of those guys! In a way, I hope I run into them again just because they had me in stitches the whole time.
