I worked on some recent material. Top two are polka dot. Two Royal Flamingo. Howardite is hard to find and expensive so I have been looking for a less expensive alternative. The circled preform is as close as I have ever come to the Howardite rattlesnake pattern. Two Nydegger that was sold as Stinkingwater. A Tahoma that has a nice pattern on the other side. I trimmed the edges to see how deep the white was and found out that it isn't going away. With the druse pockets I decided to pick the bolder side.

I still can’t believe you got that nyedegger that was sold for $10 😂. I’ve seen slabs of that size and quality asking price of $80-$100+ It’s an old central Oregon classic. More rare than Carey due to how small the deposit was.

It was sold as Stinkingwater. I didn't think it was very good SW but it was only $10 and shipping combined. People get prickly over ids. I had a slab from Martin Kramer that he called original Biggs. I bought MHPJ from him 20 years ago and he knows his rocks. It had an atypical look and had FB posters say it wasn't Biggs and it wasn't what they ided. I already posted this on vendor reviews. I posted on a FB listing for Royal Sahara that it looked like Deschutes and the seller blocked me. It was Deschutes and he changed his description.

Having a massive stock of Nyedegger and seeing a lot of it cut. I actually think it’s a pretty nice piece you got. The thing with nydegger is that it’s a thick plume material with delicate feathery splayed out plumes as opposed to your typical stinking water. My personal beliefs is that Its a great material for doublets. That’s not saying you can’t get pieces less dense that make for great standard cabs. My point is you done good on that snag since it was mislabeled.,

Stinkingwater usually is available in narrow slabs. There is a lot of variation in quality. I look for clear agate and distinct plumes. This is the best one I've sold.
