Hi, all. I have a Thumler UV-10 that was running continuously from January to mid-July of this year, then sat idle (unplugged) for a month when I was overseas.
When I returned and went to fire it up again, the breaker flipped immediately, without the tumbler motor ever starting.
I tried it on different household circuits with the same result.
The machine was sent back to the lapidary warehouse where it was purchased and they were unable to replicate the problem and it's been running fine for them.
I can't see it being an electrical issue in the home as we run all kinds of things with no issues. Has to be the tumbler.
When the tumbler comes back to me, assuming that we still have an issue, can anyone tell me what my next steps would be?
Thanks in advance!

First of all, have you tried plugging in to an outlet connected to a different breaker to make sure if it the machine or your home lines? They may have plugged it in to an outlet with a higher amperage breaker or something. If only tripping on the one outlet then I would check the outlet and maybe replace it and the breaker first to see if that solves the problem since looking for a problem in the line, such as animals chewing through the wire, is a lot more hassle.

Yeah, I've tried it in several outlets in the home on different circuits.

How new is your home? What circuits did you try plugging the UV 10 into?
If the unit has some electrical current leaking to ground, a regular circuit breaker would not trip but definitely a GFCI and possibly a AFCI circuit breaker would trip. Also, older AFCI circuit breakers can have issues with motors.

The home is about 17 years old. I tried plugging it into outlets all over the home with the same result. It was originally in the garage, which has a separate breaker box. When it flipped the breaker there, I brought the unit into the house and tested it here. Any other appliance is fine. But they had no issues at the rock shop, so we'll see what happens when I get it home next week. I'm stumped.
