Have been filling the RayTech-Vibe -10 almost to the rim as suggested with 75/25 rock /ceramics but decided to actually weigh the filled bowl (without added water or grit) and find that I have exceeded the 8 pound recommended weight limit --- at least with this particular batch and perhaps foolishly decided to do the run anyway as I wanted these stones kept together because they all came from one location for a change and seem to be the same kind of rock. Any idea if being "over-weight" will affect either the machine or the results of the tumble? Things seem to be progressing as normal. Yah ..I know .... Noo-bee's worry about the darndest things but ..there it is ...

Being overweight slows down everything for me... Oh, wait, you're talking about rocks. I don't think the tumbler is at risk, isn't it the one that can stack barrels? I wouldn't overfill a rotary but a vibe should be okay. As they grind they will lose a little weight, and if not you can always pull a few less impressive ones on the first clean out.

RE : bolded ... pretty ! RE: Rocks. Did the first clean out and lo .... it turns out that after washing and reweighing I had exactly (!!!!) the recommended eight pounds so perhaps the first weighing was wrong or they lost weight (but a whole pound ?) I did remove some iffy rocks with some crevasses that mysteriously appeared that could use another round back at #1 rotary rather than moving on to #3 so the weight worry has been removed. *Stack barrels ? No it's a vibe with a bowl for which they recommend a max of 8 pounds.

Interesting .... never heard of that one ! The $$$ is out of my range but the concept seems workable. I like the stacking idea. It looks like a potty chair

Over a year later and still obsessing about the possibility of overloading the vibe ... especially so because the first one mysteriously quit working and had to be replaced.
I am very careful to load at less than the 8 pound limit BUT I was with the original machine as well.
I wash with a very wet wash cycle and that adds some additional weight but usually for a few minutes ... 1/2 hr tops.
Any additional feedback from users of this unit (or similar bowl units) would be appreciated.
