This might be my stupid question of the day.... Are you able to improve the polish of a rock on a CabKing after you tumble polished the rock?
Has anyone here ever tried this method?

I've taken rough to the wheels BEFORE I've put them in the tumbler...but not afterward. I shaped some Velvet Obsidian on the wheels, then finished them in the vibe.
I suppose if it's a material which is prone to bruises or impact fractures in the tumbler, taking them to the wheels to finish them up would be an option.

When we've vibe tumbled flat thin preforms for Elizabeths earrings, the edges on some are more polished than the center of the flat part. A little bit of cerium on the slow wheel really helps those, but if anything coarser than 3k helps I'm thinking a look at the tumbling process is in order.

I do rock Christmas ornaments like Jugglerguy does on the Michigan Rocks YouTube videos. A few times they have cracked but not broken. The cracks were significant enough that I put some superglue in them. I tried polishing on the cabber but could never get it to look right and match the finish very well no matter what grit I used even down to 50000 grit. So now I superglue or epoxy them and put them back in the tumbler. I also tried polishing bits on my Dremel but couldn't get that to turn out well either. If it is significant enough (especially epoxy) it will probably have to go back to 220 grit in the tumbler but maybe for shorter time than usual. Bottom line, you are probably better off putting them back in the tumbler (unless you are really good on the cabber).

Rocks polish differently. Most of my polishing is done with 100k diamond paste. Some rocks do better with something else. I have different polishing pads on my Genie and if I don't like the polish I try something else. I don't tumble but have bought tumbled pieces to recut as cabs and they all had a nice polish.
