Got the saw oil yesterday and was able to play a bit. We first cut the mysterious rock with the red circle. It's so cool: Then we did some Montana Moss agates: One of them had this cool crystally area over half of it. Then a sample group shot - this isn't all of them, but these were the best. I'm amazed at how well the saw works, the blade hardly seems to leave saw marks and just overall runs very smoothly. I do have one question on the flow of the oil - it may be hard to tell in a picture, but should the oil flow in a constant stream, drip, does this look too fast? We don't get a lot of overspray, and what we do we are able to deflect back into the pan, but since this is my first time, I'm just curious. Thanks!

Great looking slabs Peta. The circle rock turned out way different than I expected. I’ve never used a chop saw but it looks like there is adequate oil. Does it use gravity as the feed or do you hand push the blade through the rock?
Way to go finding the saw. I see lots of cabs in your future.

Looks good to me. You now get the real fun of finding out what beauty (or dud) lies inside rocks!

Looks good to me. You now get the real fun of finding out what beauty (or dud) lies inside rocks! Ditto on sufficient oil Oil spray sometimes depends on surface shape of rock. You can build a shower stall like box around and access during run through a smaller door. Congratulations on the beginning of more fun and productive efforts.

Congrats on the new saw.
You want a constant stream of oil on both sides of the blade, not a drip.
If you have a misting problem, get a pint of Bardahl NoSmoke at an auto parts store and mix half of it into the oil.

I let hubby cut the first night - I needed to see how it worked before trying it, but the next day it was all me Great looking slabs Peta. The circle rock turned out way different than I expected. I see lots of cabs in your future. Thank you!! The circle rock reminds me a bit of an egg lol The yellow surprised me. The saw is gravity fed, we let the blade cut a groove and then let it go and it does the rest. There's a stopper you can set that keeps the blade from hitting the bottom of the pan. Looks good to me. You now get the real fun of finding out what beauty (or dud) lies inside rocks! That's the best part haha!! I've already realized that some of the flint I thought was a dud (greyer material) actually contained nice color inside. Man those slabs look awesome! Thank you!! Every time I fire up my saw, my husband is first on line to help. It's fun to discover what treasures the rocks really hold.
Glad it worked out, Patty

NICE! I wonder if the yellow circle rock might be a Kentucky agate. Resembles some I've seen.
