Since the subject of tutorials has come up, I thought I'd throw in my 2 cents as someone who used to write them.
I don't see anything wrong with using tutorials. They are a great way to pick up new skills. But, they should be used as a jumping off point. Once you get some skills down, you should push yourself to come up with your own uses for those new skill sets.
Also---- ALWAYS, always, always give credit to the artist/tutorial. It takes a long time to develop a new design and make a tutorial. Even if you are just inspired by another artist, it is polite to state that.
Thank you for the clarification on tutorial use.
I always acknowledge when I use a tute- but don't usually give the link to the paid, printable tutes I usually buy - but I will now.

Finally got my full moon special done - Just in time, as last night was the full moon ! Not the finest thing - But heck, it's the Halloween special, so some scary things are allowed ! Actually, I made the tree wrap over my pietersite cab in cab a while ago, and it's been languishing on my bench, waiting for me to figure out a suitable border. I wanted a wild vine/wreath look - Which I think I somewhat managed, but I found out the downside of making a vine with so many twisted wires - Fine and well on the front, but what the heck do you do with them when you get to the back ! I started with heavier wire for the vine, which I liked the look of but it seemed overwhelming, so ended up using differently twisted 22 gauge square. The best I came up with was to do another vine on the back. Everything else was just terrible. I started out with some temp holding wires on the back - But ended up making them permanent, as I sort of liked them, and it added in some interested. I do think I made the bail too tall - But then the whole pendant is pretty massive (You should have seen the first version!), so maybe tall goes ? But boy, Liver of Sulfur really saved the day, as I think it looks a LOT better now that it's antiqued. I even held my mouth right, & the LOS created some areas of purple & green iridescence. The other trick was I decided not to polish off the back with the steel wool- best not highlight all those hideous details. Thanks for the challenge - boy I'm glad that one is done ! Thanks for looking, Patty

liveoak Patty, A wonderful job! And a hint--you probably already know this, but if you go to the electrical wiring section of a hardware store you can buy pre-twisted wire of various gauges, although the gauge they give you is the near-total bundle. Then you just peel it off and twist a bit . . .. The funny thing is last night I finally resigned myself to not seeing one of your creative wraps since you put so much effort into the heart. But then there it is--I love the "implanted" moon--some day I'll bug you for step-by-step instructions on how to do that. And I love the "messy" although just the right kind. As for the cab, it goes without saying that it is beautiful, after all, it is well-worked pietersite. Yeah, those twisted wires do get cantankerous but what fun when done! Stellar spooky!

Thank you Susan. Actually I didn't know about buying pre-twisted wire & will look.
But for my vine border I actually wanted them to be twisted differently, as I thought it gave more of an organic look to it.
Tom said that it was a good thing I finished & posted Ashley's heart wrap BEFORE this one - showed that I know somewhat what I'm doing sometimes !
Ahhhh, you missed the fiasco my cab in cab caused, but you're in luck, I did a short tutorial on making this exact cab.
If you have any questions- please ask.

You certainly captured the scene perfectly and that cab was the perfect choice. I like the design and think you did a great job handling all that wire. Nice and creepy! I think you knocked it out of the ballpark.

Thank you Tela.
Yup- I'd give it creepy - just a good thing that it's for me !
A couple of years ago I read an article in Rock & Gem about this girl (quite young) wire wrapper. I found it very inspiring & made me wish I could make sure things.
Going back today & re-looking at her tree with vine wrap - well let me tell you she's in a different league .
Looking at her website she's moved into torch work more recently, but her wire wrapping style I find very pleasing to look at. And I still can't figure out how in the world she made the border around her tree !

Beautiful work and SO young. Imagine what she'll do in the future. She definitely had a calling. Thanks for sharing!
