I don't believe it!  was going to cut a bloody bat wing of that bat cave jasper I posted a few weeks back that looks like the piece shown in hans gammas book. But got too busy digging in the scrap pile. Time got away from me. |

Tommy I've been quiet because I've been camping in the extreme wilderness of Malibu Beach. My entry is my first doublet. Ghost Seam Agate on Bloodstone done in a ghost shape.     Having trouble getting a decent pic of the cab. I'm going to try again tonight if I have time but wanted to get something in before trick or treat with the grandkids!

Here is my near last minute entry. It's from one of our Poppy Jasper dig sites but unlike anything else we've found there previously. Any agate is very uncommon out there especially the red banding. Once I saw the deformed poppy "eyes", "nostrils" and agate/quartz "mouth" I knew I had to try and capture the face. It reminds me of the mask from the movie Scream.   This was the preform after a bit of shaping on the 80 grit wheel and I remembered to take a pic lol. The one on the left I was from the same slab and was going to make into a tombstone but tossed it aside after the 220 wheel.  There are some excellent enteries so far!! |

Ok, well, it got me some cab practice in anyway. This, I believe, is a piece of Dendritic Psilomelane. There are some nice, I believe, hematite bands running through it. I tried to capture a stylized hematite cross on the front of this tombstone. Difficult to photograph but it does give a nice metallic sparkle in the right light. I was really surprised at how soft this material was. I was still removing material on 600, probably could've just started on 280 soft for the whole cab. 220 was removing material a little too fast. Thanks!
