I think this one has an "Art Deco" kind of look & I like it, now. Truth be told I started it following a tutorial & cut it off the stone after it was finished. Some of the details weren't to my taste & some of my implementations wouldn't be to anyone's taste so I re-thunk it , simplified it & I think it will work. It has less border wraps (none) than I would have originally thought necessary- but it's 18 gauge wire so pretty stiff & seems to be holding just fine. I decided that with the copper inclusions in the stone, I'd keep it bright- so I waxed it right away with the hope it will stay for awhile anyway . Thanks for looking, Patty

liveoak Do you use soft, 1/2 hard or both?

liveoak Do you use soft, 1/2 hard or both? The 18 gauge was soft to start out with - but after I cut it to length I straightened it by clamping it in my vise & pulling / stretching it straight.
So it's definitely hardened somewhat from that.

I like that one a lot. Simple and graceful! Thank you rockbrain - I didn't feel graceful doing it ,but in the end it worked out.

I agree simple is better - too much fluff isn't my style.
But I have to admit, it only looks neat since I took the pumice wheel to all my tool marks

NO! You didn't have to admit that- I would never have known. LOL!

Thanks Diane, drocknut. I was pretty happy the way it came out- I think I might try to pull off matching earrings - but need to make some small matching cabs first.(projects always seem to take on lives of their own!) Patty

You did a great job on that one Patty liveoak! I like it and it does look deco-y. The only fussy jewelry I totally adore is art nouveau. Can't help myself.

I really like it--the curves of the wires coming across the front toward the bottom really keep the eye moving the length of the wrap, and the stone is sufficiently solid-colored that it doesn't interfere with the pattern whatsoever. My favorite part, though, is where those wires came from--the way you executed it is brilliant.

I had to look up examples of art nouveru jewelry & I see what you mean.
It can lean deco-y with more flounce.
I need to look more into that style - good tip.
Thank you Susan,
Well I can't take all the credit I did start with a tute.
The tute had lots of swirls & binding I didn't like, but funny when you stripped away all that stuff there was a solid looking piece (with some tweaking of course). Now if I can actually manage earrings to match then I'll be impressed with myself !

I love it and am always in awe of the work wire wrappers do. You make it look so flawless and easy (I know it's anything but easy). I love the simplicity of design and how the wire compliments the rock - I really like it when the rock is still the star. Lovely!

I started wire wrapping from encouragement from others on RTH - and I have a LONG way to go learning and predicting what the heck I'm doing.
BUT, I'll encourage you - get some wire and try- it's just the thing to do with those new cabs you are making. There's a couple of wire wrapping tutorials on here you might look at to get you started.

Thanks Patty!! I appreciate the encouragement. I get questions all the time about what I'm going to do with the cabs and I have no answer lol...I would love to try my hand at wrapping, but need to get better at the cabs first, Thanks for the tutorial link -that looks very helpful! I'm not super artistic so templates always help
