Greetings!
I'm rebuilding an LS12 and while waiting on a few items from HP I want to clarify a few things about this bad boy.... it must've been abused by the previous owners as it has gouges/sharp edges in both the slab catcher (item# 053-012) and the arbor cover (#053-013). Are these available to purchase anywhere or do I just need to hammer-out whatever I can and make do? I can't find those parts anywhere.
Also, while waiting on a new carriage system (and vise and....) I noticed my carriage rails have severe rub marks in them to the point of having one completely flat side on each. Should I replace the rails at this point as well to ensure a linear, clean cut?
Another question- my LS12 has a 4" pulley, and under "Parts" for HP they offer a 3"... I researched, found the LS12 is supposed? to have the 4" pulley so I ordered one of those as well to ensure my entire arbor is aligned... then, just YESTERDAY my brother shows me an LS12 (older, green paint) that he got for free from his work (yeah, some people... I know). I helped start on deconstruction only to realize that his older LS12 does, indeed, have a 3" pulley on it! What am I missing here on pulley sizes for the same model saw? I thought this would be standardized to the model.
Are there any other not-so-obvious components that must be in ship-shape before I start? I got the (complete) arbor, carriage, vise and blade all ordered, am I missing anything else? (Feed screw and motor appear ok)
Lot's of questions from this noob so I really appreciate your support and feedback:)
Thank you,
Patrick
