I found a different looking shark tooth on my April trip to the Peace River in Florida. I finally got around to posting it on the Peace River Fossil site on FB. I was surprised with the response I got. Its actually a posterior megladon tooth. Much rarer than the front teeth as a shark will shed hundreds of teeth over it's life. (one of the reasons Fossil shark teeth are so common). So this had to come from one that died. Add to that the unusual color. One person said that responded said about one in four hundred teeth found in the Peace area are something other than black or gray. Lots of comments about what a great specimen this is. So even though it's not one of those impressive palm sized teeth that I wanted to find it was a good find and more rare than the large ones. I had an offer to buy it too.
