You are probably correct. It was from a box of my wife's tumbled stones and that was her birthstone; citrine/topaz.

I was thinking honey amber, but citrine is good, too.

Amber is real light (low density) compared to quartz. Topaz is too heavy compared to quartz and H=8 so easy to test with scratch test from known quartz crystal.
