Rock Fairy, is that a term I first saw here? Maybe it is, I heard the term somewhere.
Sometimes you get asked “what do you do with all your your rocks?”, and there are a lot of ways which lunatics like us deal with the absurd quantities of rocks we accumulate. One of the things that we do (myself and my ‘hun Sally) 2-3 times a year, we call being rock fairies. I live in rural New Hampshire, there are nearby towns that are quite small, with Elementary schools that might have 100 or so students. Today, at one of these schools, we did another rock fairy run. Basically you have to case the joint before you strike, and then gather a good number of rocks up, and then you go to the school and do your thing. We don’t go to the same place twice in a year or more, and sometimes we might travel 4-5 towns away.
There are things we cannot control. It can’t be about every kid getting a rock, but if you take the time to really hide a lot of them, and spread them around, well then maybe it takes those kids a couple of days or so before they actually find them all, so there is a chance for every kid. We hide/scatter some colorful rough, and even a few crystals, along with a few quarters as well. Probably 35-40 rocks at a visit. In the past we’ve heard comments made about what was obviously our “work” and have kept straight poker faces, not revealing anything. For example last year we did a school, then a few months later at a farmers market several towns away, an adult customer proceeded to tell us about how someone had mysteriously showed up and put rocks all around the school yard and playground at her kid’s school. She was amazed. It was not aimed at us at all, just part of a conversation with a customer who likes rocks.
Any way, if you want to have a little fun, you might try something like this.
