When I grind, I like to have a purpose. New material is always a motivator. I have some new stuff arriving in the next week or so but no motivation now. The weather turned cold and is warming up enough to grind in the next few days. I have two tumbled pieces and a specimen I'm going to turn into cabs.

A few packages arrived today. Some cacoxenite from an ebay seller and Morgan Hill, Jellybean and boulder opal from Martin Kramer on Facebook. These and the specimens were trimmed. I need to grind shapes one the specimens except the lace agate which will look good when ground.

The boulder opal was different than what I worked with before. I saw the blue and made a preform and tossed the rest. I then noticed there were a bunch of gold specs so I pulled the other pieces out of the trash. I'll take a look at the cab from the preform to see if I want to work on the other pieces.

I dopped the larger Morgan Hill and Jelly bean. I dopped the boulder opal. I did some off dop grinding on the Super Seven and citrine. The Super is nice and I need to decide on a shape. I ground the citrine as a pear, but might want to grind the right side because of the white.

I forgot to work on the lace. I ground the preform and then started doming off dop. The attribute I was interested in was still there and relatively centered. The cab looks diseased and won't improve with more grinding, so I'll give up on it.

You have some nice looking interesting material there, and starting to look good.

Last one is super seven and tough to photograph. First one is JB.

I have not mastered the art of taking a picture of a shiny chatoyant agate. I have a good camera but the lighting is difficult. I took this picture with the cab parallel to the floor and upside down to change the reflections. Flipped it horizontally and vertically with Photoshop and the picture is closer.
