I HATE to follow jasoninsd , but here we go. It's been at least a year since I cabbed- or it seems like it... I've forgotten. We had some glorious days and I was challenged by holajonathan Out of the blue, he sent a surprise box of nice slabs. (THANK YOU!) We started talking and I showed him some slabs I purchased, to which he said, "Why are you buying slabs when you aren't cabbing?" Fair enough. The next day and the day after, I did some cabbing. Felt great, though it did hurt my back. The following are just a few materials from Jonathan. My fav is the pet wood. opal crazy lace with druzy imperial jasper Mexican moss agate And here's few from my old queue
rhodochrosite that cracked on the final polish, but it's big enough to recab.
kokoweef cave onyx
Moroccan dendritic silver - I was saving this for last because, with silver in it, I thought it would turn the water black. The green is malachite, I think. Beautiful in person. The black dendrites have a tiny veid of silver on top. Undercut a hair.
Sorry for the blurriness. This is a gorgeous unknown. The shape changed a few times. I have one more preform of it.
Needles blue gem silica
McDermitt thunder egg
Australian prase. I LOVE this stuff. So deep in person.
That's it. Thanks for looking.

Such a wonderful range of material and superb cutting! I love them all, but your McDermitt thunderegg jumped out of your first photo to grab my attention.

WOW - what a variety - and a wonderful push to get you cabbing ! Things I never heard about for sure . That Australian prase is to die for ! And the Moroccan dendritic silver, and Needles blue gem silica is really nice. But you captured the perfect pattern on the rhodochrosite - outstanding. You can't see the crack - hopefully it's too bad.
Thanks for sharing - You should cab more often - you're inspiring.

Tela, my friend, you have NOTHING to worry about "following" me! Holy sha-mo-lees! This entire batch is flat-out spectacular! Seriously! AMAZING! I love the shapes you chose on these. The polish is top-level amazing! I remember you working a piece of that Australian 'prase before. That material is off-the-charts! That T-egg is drop-dead gorgeous! Fan-freakin-tastic job on that Needles Blue! That one's worth a pretty penny! Bottom line...you didn't skip a beat with the time off! Way to go Tela!

You killed it, Tela. All beautiful, but the McDermitt t-egg and Needles Blue are fabulous!

All are awesome! So much so, I can't pick a favorite. Aww... thank you, Dave! Such a wonderful range of material and superb cutting! I love them all, but your McDermitt thunderegg jumped out of your first photo to grab my attention. Thanks Gary, I like that one, too. Tip broke off in the grind, but I think I like how it ended up even better. Gorgeous. Some new to me interesting materials in there also. 👍 That silver dendritic ore is hard to find. I got some, then got some more then it seemed to disappear. Now, if you can find it, it's a lot more money. Thanks! OMG the group picture. They look so gorgeous! Especially love the imperial jasper and the Australian prase. Thanks! The IJ is even better in person. But, that Prase is amazing. The depth doesn't show up in pictures. Wow! All look great and also hard to pick one favorite. Thank you! WOW - what a variety - and a wonderful push to get you cabbing ! Things I never heard about for sure . You have a good eye- the ones you mentioned are the nicest, I think. I'm surprised you didn't mention the wood. It will be great in copper. I think the rhodo will make a smaller cab easily. Thank you, Dillon! Tela, my friend, you have NOTHING to worry about "following" me! Holy sha-mo-lees! This entire batch is flat-out spectacular! Seriously! AMAZING! Thank you, my friend, but I'm not even close to you. Maybe is I was cabbing a lot. But, I'm happy with them. Other than the cracked rhodo, I didn't have any real issues, which is rare. I'd like to do more swoops, but I hate wrapping them. You killed it, Tela. All beautiful, but the McDermitt t-egg and Needles Blue are fabulous! Thank you, Robin! The needles blue is kinda a pain. The cab turned out a little smaller than it started.

Those are spectacular! I'm glad you're working hard again. The moss agates are super fascinating, the McDermitt thunderegg and the Australian prase are my favorites. I do have a question for you or any cabber, how thin is too thin for a slab to make a cab with? I have some very neat petrified wood but it is about 1/8"-3/16", very thin. Your petrified wood is inspiring.

With the cold weather on the way, I won't be doing much. Those are spectacular! I'm glad you're working hard again. I like 5-6mm. 3/16th is almost 5 (4.7625 mm). If you can do a low dome, you can do it. I've done that and smaller, though it is more difficult. Take your time and rock the cab.

I'll just have to echo what others have said. Spectacular cabs! I'd have a tough time even picking my 6 favorites! Some beautiful material and outstanding workmanship. Some nice output too if that's 2 days worth.

Less than usual, but I was really concentrating on keeping a smaller girdle.

Yep, you have an eye for composition and the hand for the execution of beautiful cabs. You should keep at it.
