Yep, you have an eye for composition and the hand for the execution of beautiful cabs. You should keep at it. Awww... thank you, Randy.

Looks like certainly no trouble getting back in to it, those are fantastic. And agree, that petrified wood is awesome. So shiny 🤩

I wish I could have done it another day or two but it went from 85 to 55 overnight. We don't have the heat on yet and wax don't like the cold. I could never get used to using glue, though I have a real nice set of dops for it. Beautiful work!! I think The needles gem silicate is my favorite!! Nothing quite like the blue of gem silica! Thanks!

Rockjunquie, the various shapes and color quality are absolutely superior. I'm sorry but you need to hurt your back some more!

I HATE to follow jasoninsd , but here we go. It's been at least a year since I cabbed- or it seems like it... I've forgotten. We had some glorious days and I was challenged by holajonathan Out of the blue, he sent a surprise box of nice slabs. (THANK YOU!) We started talking and I showed him some slabs I purchased, to which he said, "Why are you buying slabs when you aren't cabbing?" Fair enough. The next day and the day after, I did some cabbing. Felt great, though it did hurt my back. Hubs took off nearly all of summer. It was so damn hot in the garage... too hot to look for rocks... nothing else to do but buy more slabs LOL... he kept getting "surprise" boxes... that was fun at least

Rockjunquie-how would you classify the overall shape for the cabs?

Rockjunquie-how would you classify the overall shape for the cabs? I honestly don't know. I do know I prefer symmetric shapes. Some of those aren't, but overall- I go for wrappable, simple, symmetrical shapes. I like them a little large- between 40 and 50mm. I like the top and bottom tips to line up.
Thanks for asking. Really made me think.

Make sure you post a pic when you wrap the opal. That looks like a fun shape to play with.

It just looks ideal for one of your "architectural" wraps with the cab hanging off some kind of header.
