These are what I aspire to achieve !! Fantastic stones and pictures !! Thank you! All it takes is a little time (well, maybe a lot) and patience. Well..... and some grit, rocks, a tumbler, etc ๐ Nice looking rocks. I just started rock tumbling recently but I'm getting good at it pretty quickly. Thanks! It is definitely somewhat addicting. Good luck! All are great and the closeups are amazing. Thanks for sharing. Thank you! Beautiful depth in that green moss. Your dugways are neato. Thanks for all the eye candy Yeah, I like when the green moss has transparent sections. Almost makes them look like a mossy underwater scene. What a beautiful batch. The shaping and polish look top-notch. I rally like the Bahia and Laker โeyeโ agates. I agree. I can't seem to get enough of rocks with eyes and orbs; there is just something about them. Here...have another thumb ' This might be one of my favorite rocks anyone has every posted I would have guessed the matrix would not have held up, too cool
Are those all just windows or can you really get in there? 1. I have tumbled a number of Pigeon Blood Agates, but I never cease to be amazed by the almost space-like structures that can be seen (especially up close). 2. The matrix is actually pretty hard and takes a nice polish. I was pleased with the results. 3. Yeah, those are clear sections! The green/yellow jasper had some nice looking pieces.
Wow, those are gorgeous! Great photography too! Thank you!

hypodactylus I was curious if you did any non-tumbling work on these - grinding/dremel, etc ?

Gorgeous! So much fun to have such a variety in one batch. Love it.
This is the first time I've ever come across the term "pigeon blood agate" and I'm interested where you learned that name? I've collected plenty of it but I haven't ever seen it called that before.
Thanks for posting!!

May I ask what kind of camera setup you're using? SLR with a macro lens? Cell phone with a macro lens attachment? I would love to take pictures like this of some of my tumbles!

Amazing Skills! (finding, polishing & photography!) :-) Exactly this! hypodactylus - These are the kind of pictures a person can easily get lost in for quite some time! Huge thank you for posting these pics! Thank you! Nature definitely creates some amazing designs. hypodactylus I was curious if you did any non-tumbling work on these - grinding/dremel, etc ? I have a tile saw (8-inch Ridgid) that I use for both cutting and grinding. I am certain that at least of few of these rocks underwent some cutting and/or grinding, but also potentially months of tumbling. Gorgeous! So much fun to have such a variety in one batch. Love it. This is the first time I've ever come across the term "pigeon blood agate" and I'm interested where you learned that name? I've collected plenty of it but I haven't ever seen it called that before. Thanks for posting!! Thanks! I will admit that I am not super fond of the "Pigeon Blood Agate" name, but that is the only name I have ever heard for this material (from Utah). Do you possibly know it by a different name? May I ask what kind of camera setup you're using? SLR with a macro lens? Cell phone with a macro lens attachment? I would love to take pictures like this of some of my tumbles! Certainly! These photos were all taken using a Canon 90D SLR camera and the Canon EF 100mm Macro or Canon EFS 18-135mm lenses.
