I can’t think of a better tribute to Ed! From the plaque to the placement, I think he would have been touched by the memorial.

Fantastic. A fitting tribute to Ed mohs and hopefully the perfect ending of what has been a rough year for us. Thanks to all. RickB

I am not sure what Heaven is, however for Ed I am pretty certain that he will be sitting on his bench looking over at Wallace and Ladmo with his camera at the zoo.

mohs theme...daza gneiss,,,Apr 28, 2023 at 12:09pm Pat, 1dave, and 2 more like this Quote like Post Options Ed, the cheapest way is to use a copper cleaner. I buy Cameo brand at Wally's World. It's only a couple of bucks. Cameo, and a wet sponge will do it with a little scrubbing. If you want to work harder salt and lemon juice to scrub it will also work. That's the old fashioned (or eco-friendly way). Robin Figure I’d bring this over here Not hijack that clean thread ha My Wally Hood didn’t have the Brillo Cameo on the shelf That’s good Save me a few bucks Because this corroded whatever it is is like schist metal So I peeled it and it shines a bit better Must have been some original plaque, from long ago, That denoted something and as been neglected My idea is to add ‘copper mostly rock' plaques Someday hope everything is…well… ya knows...

Hello, it's Michael Arnaud, Ed's little brother. I am so grateful as is our family for all of you doing this and extremely saddened that I just now found out about the unveiling of the bench. I would've been there had I known, or somebody had reached out to me. I have tried to check in on the forum from time-to-time but after the initial foray of posts you all did, and I did it seemed like everybody moved on. I did know that the plan was to do the bench but had no idea that it was actually happening and feel terrible that I wasn't there for its unveiling. I assure you that myself, my wife my brother Richard and his wife jean and our sister would've been there. I'm not mad just sad I will venture out to the zoo when time permits (I'm a letter carrier and this is our bust season) and be sure to snap some pictures of us there. I don't have the words to adequately express our great fullness to all of you for doing this, while I'm saddened that Ed pulled away from us after our mother passed away, I'm glad he had such a close relationship with all of you. It took me two months and a ton of red tape, e-mails and phone calls to secure Ed remains, but he is here with me and originally had an idea of possibly scattering his ashes at your annual or semi-annual in January, meeting but again I threw that out there and that just kind of faded away so after the holidays we will just go up to the mountains and place him there. Please accept our deep thanks for all you did for Ed both while he was alive and now that he has passed...Michael

I'm sorry our wires got crossed. It would have been perfect if y'all had been there! As far as I know, everyone is still down with scattering Ed's ashes during the Quartzite meet up. I don't live in the area, so I'm not sure of the plans, but someone will chime in.
Please be assured that you were NOT intentionally left out of the loop. If you check your PMs, I think you'll find a couple from me. Unfortunately, I lost your number.
It took a little while to raise the money and then there was the time frame to get the bench in there. So, although things seemed to slow down, they were actually turning in the background. We're just all pleased as punch that this all came together for Ed.

I never felt like anyone was intentionally being left out of the loop I'm just bummed I didn't know about it till just now. I wasn't checking the forum everyday but a few times a month and there never seem to be anything and life and my job happens, so I just missed it...I'm just bummed I wasn't there as it was so very kind and thoughtful of you all. From the very start of Ed's passing, I know there was a time when you all didn't know if he even had a family or if we gave a rats...about Ed. Nothing could be further from the truth. so that's why I'm especially bummed about this, but it is what it is...the memorial bench is there, and you all are very generous for doing it! Thank you all again, had we known, we would've benn there.

Thank you all again, had we known, we would've benn there. I can tell you for sure that Ed cared about his family. The day I met him about 9 years ago while caring for my mom after cancer surgery he was so kind to give me a short superstitions tour up to tortilla flats and we talked at length about our moms and family, your mom was still around then. We kept in touch on the forum, phone and email and Ed gave us both the Papago Park tour as soon as we moved to the valley. After we found our house Ed and I spent almost a week driving back up to the NW to bring a load of stuff from our storage, lots of family stories were shared there and it was clear he loved you all. Sometime in mid January we may have another zoo gathering including my wife and possibly others from the forum on their way to Quartzsite. Once I know more I will be sure to let you know if you wish to join us, or I will personally join you there if you will allow me. I'll also send a message on messenger.

arno58 Hi Michael. I'm sorry to see you were late in finding out about Ed's bench. This forum can be tricky to navigate. It has a little bit of a learning curve and takes time to get to know it. I've been surprised before at what I've missed just by being gone a couple days. This though, is a really unfortunate missing for you and your family. I hope it will make for a nice outing and day when you do go and visit. I thought I'd put a link here to the last thing we did to raise money for the bench. It was a fun cab contest and then the cabs were auctioned off. Ed's specialty were his rock 'n hearts and specifically the "mended broken hearts", often made from two different materials. You'll notice several cab entries paying tribute to his style. forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/thread/103045/winners-announced-rth-benefit-contest

Hi Michael,
I have to tell you the very best thing about the bench tribute at the zoo - it's there for good !
It's not a passing thing, or something that is going to wear out quickly.
What's really fun is that we were able to get it in what we thought was an ideal location & one Ed would have liked.
It's literally just across from the Wallace & Ladmo statues.
When Ed was going to the zoo and sharing photos with us on here, the statues were a constant, a place he seemed to like to watch the kids climb all over & he even left rocks (sometimes hearts) in the Ladmo bag statue, for people to find.
The sad thing to me, now that I think about it, to the general forum, you might very well have thought that we moved on to other things, but there was a VERY active private PM thread with everyone that had donated toward the bench cause.
We organized auctions to raise money, hashed out the plaque design, got Lee to go double check on the bench location, etc, etc.
We had been pushing for a unveiling in January, and much to all our surprises got the fiances raised quicker than we thought. So although I'm sorry you missed the unveiling, I do hope you and your family will take a trip to the zoo and enjoy sitting on the bench and remembering Ed OR/AND to also be part of the January Quartzite gathering.
Patty

I am so sorry I couldn't make it. I could not take the time off work. I know Ed is looking down on that bench and watching others sit & enjoy the sights as he did. I miss his participation on this board. Hard to believe he is gone. I have been a part of this group for 18 years and he was here before me!
