There appears to be quite a bit of Original Owyhee Jasper in this pic (and in another one in the album). I'm not sure I agree with the previously posted valuation on it, but those red toned pieces of Original Owyhee (like the one in the top left corner) are harder to come by it seems...so they might bring in a decent price in auction. If the slabs in this pic were put up for auction, I'd be watching it personally. [] Your responses are SO helpful jasoninsd. I tried to ID what I was fairly confident about I don’t get to see much variety due to restricting my own material purchases to local buy/sells and very rarely a lapidary shop or auction. Originally I had said to Gary that I figured most slabs would sell for $5-$20 but I was hesitant to speculate just due to not being confident in my identifications based on photos. I think most of this will go for auctions on Facebook if I can make a decent listings page and find others to cross post to. As I’m selling it for a friend and there is a huge amount of trust being placed in me, I want to ensure I’m not shirt hanging short changing him. I also believe the end dollar value will be somewhere in the middle of whatever we speculate. since we all know how auctions go. Heck, I saw a couple 4x6 inch slabs of ocean picture jasper sell for over $200 back in August in Lethbridge. I wouldn’t have been willing to pay that but I also fully recognize I’m cheap and have a LOT to learn about prices of material. Edit: Sheesh autocorrect, get it together!

Jason, my valuation was based on 4 lots with three of them being blue. I totally get where you're coming from...and wasn't intending to step on toes by what I said. I know you watch and participate in a ton of auctions...so maybe you are seeing some things I'm not seeing. I have a habit of checking out the eBay auctions/sales for slabs and rough...which might not be bringing in the same values as what you're seeing. If you want some real shock...I've watched one particular auction (within the last six months...I think!) for a slab of Ocean Jasper about the same size as as the one you were watching...and I saw the auction peak at $976...FOR THAT ONE SLAB! Wowzers!! I figured I'd better follow up with some good identifications after I pulled the Rick-Roll earlier! LOL

I saw a really crappy slab of OJ go for Buy it Now for 950. Glad I didn't cut all mine up! I do regret cutting a couple of them that I did cut.

Mel I think I didn't understand the assignment and started commenting on the individual photos instead of reading on in the thread I didn't get very many but I have to admit it was kind of fun doing it that way

No worries Tommy - please comment in the album! That way it’s kept in a place both myself & Gary can see it (he’s “more of a rockhound than a cabber” so that’s why it will all be for sale ). I’m grateful for all the ID help we can get!!
