I'm doing my best to help a fellow rockhound friend identify some material in order to get a rough idea of value. I've made my best guesses identifying it where I could, but I know I am likely wrong on some (And listen, if I'm wrong I'll happily be the first to admit it but it won't happen because I'm never wrong and never will be...LOL As if. I love these threads because I always learn something new.) All I know about the slabs is that all material was collected by his grandfather pre-1980; likely 1940's to 1960 and that he travelled extensively to buy rocks all across the US -- was a frequent Tuscon visitor during his rock heyday. Unfortunately he didn't get any wet photos. Album is here. EDIT: Link updated!

Well what the frig! He’s going to try and make it public shortly. If anyone wants an invite I can send you one via email; just shoot me a DM and I’ll send one along. I dont use Google photos so had no idea it was private!

As far as valuation on them it depends on how they are sold. The Tahoma is worth starting over $100 and the Owyhee over $1000. If they were mine, I would break them into lots and put a lot of the Owyhee on ebay on auction to gage interest. Both are difficult to find in quality. HOLY. CATS. Thank you stardiamond !! I am hesitant to go on eBay but I will be offering slabs up for sale once we can arrange transport from him to me.

Roy and Tony sell on fullmoon.

I don't have any experience with slab sales so I guess this is the universe telling me it's time to add some knowledge.

If you know how to post and navigate on facebook it isn't difficult to sell there. Shipping slabs is not hard.

Wow, looks like a nice collection. Ya, it’s unfortunate the slabs weren’t wet for the pics, but boy, those magazines take me back in time!👍

Lizard Skin Jasper. I've seen this go for high dollar in an auction...but I've also seen it go for low dollar... This one look more like Hickoryite than Wonderstone to me... I can't tell if the color is off in the picture...but the rock itself looks like Blue Lace Agate. Can go for a decent price in auction...if it's really blue. Septarian Nodule Mahogany Obsidian. There's some other obsidian pieces (Snowflake Obsidian in the previous pic in the album. I'm guessing most of what's in that pic is obsidian) There appears to be quite a bit of Original Owyhee Jasper in this pic (and in another one in the album). I'm not sure I agree with the previously posted valuation on it, but those red toned pieces of Original Owyhee (like the one in the top left corner) are harder to come by it seems...so they might bring in a decent price in auction. If the slabs in this pic were put up for auction, I'd be watching it personally.

Jason, my valuation was based on 4 lots with three of them being blue.
