I have rocks just like these in the tumblers right now and they should be done in the next few days or so. Here's an image of a really nice moss agate from my last tumble.

Beautiful! Im still flying high after finding a red moss agate early this year. All three chunks are tumbling and the smaller one is in the vibe polishing. I wish I could find another one… Man Velo. Those really are amazing!

The smaller chunk is near done polishing in the vibe (I put some micron AO polish in yesterday morning), and looks to have a deep mirror shine developing when I checked it this afternoon. Sunday afternoon I’ll check it again, it should be done.

How big is it? Is it a Texas rock? This one is nearly the size of a couple of golf balls and it is from the Walker Ranch out in west Texas. I have a good amount of tumbling rough from several of the well-known ranches that has allowed rockhounding. I get this kind of tumbling rough from Enchanted Rocks Rock Shop in Llano and from Teri Smith.

I’ll see if they are on line also since it’ll take us awhile to start traveling again. Walker ranch… is that one of those that you can pay to rock hunt on? Those moss agates are so nice, pretty big also which is great.

Enchanted Rocks Rock Shop sells west Texas tumbling rough by the pound and Teri Smith sells it by the bucket. These rocks come from places like Kokernot O6, Larremore, Muddy Creek, Needle Peak, Ritchie, Singleton, Walker and Woodward. Only the Kokernot O6, Larremore and Ritchie Ranch allow rockhounding nowadays. Jean Larremore, Teri Smith and Aaron Frank Thomas are the ones to contact for rockhounding expeditions at those ranches.
