Nevermind, I can see the flat spot with my untrained eye on the big screen! P.S. Thank you, roy! It was a pleasure to work this compared to the obsidian faceting attempt!

Nice looking cab! Congrats on the saw. What did you get? A Lortone LS10, back when those were slab saws. Looks nearly identical to the Hightone 10. The former owner was a super nice gentleman who worked in the abrasives industry and gave me a nice intro lesson on how to take care of it well. He made some modifications to it. Built a stand for it, relocated the motor underneath the saw and built a new belt guard, and replaced the plastic hood with a metal one with a window. He even gave Brittany a tigers eye necklace with what appears to be a silver necklace, and gave me a cab of kaleidoscope prism stone he made.

Way to go Chris! I think the cab looks pretty darn good! If I'm understanding what you're asking about the girdle...then yes...it's slightly wrong. The girdle is "supposed" to angle slightly, but the other direction from what yours is doing. This pic is from Suva Lapidary (from whom I just placed an order from earlier this week! LOL). See how the girdle is angling "inward" rather than "outward"? *For what it's worth...I usually just do my girdle at 90 degrees since I do my own wire wrapping...

Nice looking cab, Chris. Another one or two and you'll be an old pro. Just pop that puppy back on a dop and fix the flat spot and angle the girdle inward a little and it will be perfect! That's the beauty of rocks you can (almost) always fix them if you miss something the first go round. Have fun chasing the rabbit down the rabbit hole.

I've got some other slabs being cut right now and it looks like I got lucky with some blue in a couple of rocks!
I know the smart thing to do would be to go back and fix this cab, but I'm going to have a hard time not rushing to the pretty stuff!
How do you all deal with decisions around prioritization? I always see everyone here cabbing different things, but I've got a large flat rate box full of this stuff!

I don't mean to not cab something nice, but like, you don't want to rush into some tiffany stone, for example. Good to start with trouble free material till you get it down.

How do you all deal with decisions around prioritization? I think it might depend on how easy it is for you to get more & your budget.
I know when I first started I filled a box with "special" slabs & wouldn't touch them, I was afraid I was going to screw them up (and probably would have). You'll probably thank yourself later.
Use the ordinary ones first (agates & jasper's) or ones you have a bunch of - it's just as much fun & rewarding.
