So, this happened this past week. I am showing off I know 🤪 I’ll be using it to precut rough for tumbling, for cutting small to medium sized slabs too (hopefully selling some to help pay for this!) And some occasional specimen preps no doubt. Honestly, I don’t feel worthy of such a nicely made beast. My hands don’t work as well as they once did, the stiffness and pains of arthritis often make me struggle to accomplish things that I never used to have to think about. I’ve contemplated how I would “do” such a saw, and I for sure see folks right here using other interesting ways to get some spectacular results. The auto feed, and the USA-made, for me are what kept me looking at this, at the end of every saw thought-session. I’ve thought of a getting a bigger saw too, but I don’t want to fall down the rabbit hole of cutting rocks that weigh more than a few pounds. I don’t think I’d be able to. Plus available space in my cave is an issue as well. Guess you all know what I’ll be doing in my spare time this coming week!

Congratulations on the new toy. Actually, it's not a toy; 10" is a very versatile size and once you realize its capabilities, you will tend to select stones of the appropriate size and shape to allow it to do its job. Bigger is not always better. I'm a strong believer in Raytech saws because of how easy they are to clean (plastic tray lining tank), so much so that I have one that I'm just beginning to restore, even though I have other slab saws that meet my modest needs. I'm working on a real ugly duckling that has been neglected for several years, but it has promise. Cheers.

Man, you're gonna love that saw! I have one that is over forty years old that keeps on ticking and cutting rocks. Like Peruano says, I love the removable tub. Sometimes I will use water for coolant and it's so easy to change from oil to water with that sump system and just so easy to keep sump clean. The only thing I don't like is that it doesn't have an auto shut off so I have to be near enough to hear the change in sound to know when it's done with a slice. Back in the day Raytech made some of the absolute best lapidary gear, I have two of their 6" saws, a 10" and the fabulous 18" model. I'm glad Scott is still making the 6 and 10" saws, I got some parts from him to restore one of my 6" saws. I also have their 8" grinder/polishing machines.
