Thanks for this thread! You have great results - can't wait to see them after 14,000 AO!
I have some moonstone that I have been putting off tumbling, because I didn't really know how to do it. I will try your method when I get some tumblers freed up!

Those are beautiful! The little bit of color shine is very nice. Can’t wait to see some of the bigger ones with more shine, I think you said you have. I appreciate this post, my wife loves moonstone, and I collected a couple of pounds of it a while back and wasn’t quite sure what to do with it. Your process will help much. Merry Christmas bud!

It’s beautiful material. It looks difficult to tumble but yours turned out great.

The oiled look smoother, but don't you have to wash hands every time you touch the stones?

pebblesky Nah I think mineral oil is good for skin, they even added vitamin E to it. The idea with vacuuming the oil into the stone is to be able to wipe the oil off but still have that oiled look inside. I could probably buff the oil off better because I was leaving fingerprints on the stones still, but they feel dry. I just asked about oiling rocks in another thread ... what is "vacuuming the oil" ? Great looking stones, btw !

There are a lot of agates and other stones in China that are regularly maintained with mineral oil, so I am familiar with how that is done and how it feels. Recently I need to wash the mineral oil off my purchased rocks every evening. I didn't mean it is bad for the skin or the rock, maybe just bad for my mental health

Vacuum chamber ??
We need some pictures of that puppy !!!
I was thinking along the lines of a FoodSaver device but this sounds much more sophisticated.

I have one of those I never use because the bags are way too expensive and ziplocks work just fine ! May give that a try since I have the bag and the machine and the oil and the dullish rocks. Maybe warm the oil and rocks a little before vacuuming. (?) also could try the jar adapter that has never been used for anything.
