I was in Michigan last week for Thanksgiving and made it to the lake one time before it got cold and snowy (more cold and more snowy anyway). Spotted the rock shown below on the beach and knew I had to try to polish it. I think it is a schist of some sort but could be totally wrong. Not sure if the stripe is feldspar or something else.

The next pic is with one side polished. I included it because it is probably the closest match to the actual orange color of the stripe.

Polished rock below. I used a 30 grit wheel to reduce the thickness.

Thanks. The only thing I could think that it looked like was a Z from zorro after he had too many shots of rum.
