Here's a close-up in case nobody can enlarge my images (as is my case)

I have found small metalic iron inclusions in some of the red jasper I find in Missouri. Which makes sense since it is red. I don't find much green stuff around here and haven't noticed anything in the brown jasper I find. Where did you find this? The jasper looks pretty hard. I would think that it would be harder than most common metals.

I've found hematite and marcasite within jasper type of rocks. Does a magnet stick to it?

I think you guys nailed it- both of these look very similar.... thank you!! RWA, I scanned it with a magnet and couldn't detect any "pull" one way or the other...

That end result is GORGEOUS!! Thank you, Jason! The actual rock is so much more vivid, my pics don't do any justice. I have noticed, however, that your photos are amazing! Do you have any pro-tips or hacks for getting the best color/light on shiny rock subjects? There's probably a thread or ten in here about it but wanted to ask just in case:)

I do have a homemade light box...made out of a cardboard box, tissue paper, and a white poster board (which I covered with a piece of cheap gray felt). I take the pics with my phone (Motorola G-Power) with the lens zoomed into 1.8 magnification. This video shows basically what I did...but I used white tissue paper rather than a sheet:

Thanks Jason, I'm gonna get one. Your cabs are awesome, by the way- I didn't mean to overlook that, just had to ask while it was fresh in my mind. The best cabs deserve the best views:)

Then I switched to an upside down translucent bathroom trash can. I put a hole in the top for the lens. It worked great for a long time, but had limitations, so I got a tent.

Yeah...it was fun to make...however... I think it's just as easy to get one off eBay or Amazon as they're pretty inexpensive...
