These came in two boxes of tumble-ables that I inherited. In two 1 pound boxes, a full half of them were this unknown tan rock with black markings. The image is of the polished specimens. Wondering what they are as I cannot find a match in any of the images in books or online.

That's a lot of rocks!!!
The tan is Owyhee or dendritic opal- not really sure. Maybe from WY, too.

That's just the tip of the iceberg. The "specials" are in candy boxes on windowsills in other rooms. Someone saw them and only commented "How many rocks do you NEED ?" <<sigh>>
as for the rock ID ... most of the rocks are tan with just little streaks / speckles of the black .... one does look like the image of a tree ! 1/2 of each box was these rather featureless critturs. Seemed odd.

Hey RockyBeach! I freakin' love that "buffet"!! I could be wrong...but the rocks look like Dendritic Tan Jasper (aka Dendrite Tan Jasper). I found a couple listings on Amazon which match...and this eBay listing which states the rock is from India. I would bet $1 that's what this material is since The Discovery Channel was offering it in "bulk" back in the day... www.ebay.com/itm/113709682310

Buffet name seemed appropriate since the treasures are in food containers. Those do look like the rocks that came in that "rough stone" pack. Most of them have very very little in the way of "dendrites" and they look as if they will just wash away or dissolve in the tumbler but they retain their shape. One has what looks like a tree ... will try for an image next photography session.

Found an image I took and rejected ...This is the "tree" rock in its state of unpolishedness. That's as close to being a "picture rock" as any of them get.

Still working on getting the close up focus thingy and lighting worked out ...
Before I post some more pictures, is it ok to ask for help with identification here or should I post in the Identification Threads instead ?
I fear that most of the images will be of what are still to me pretty "mystery rocks" and I am mostly guessing at their true identify.

There's more of a chance of people knowing you're needing/wanting ID's...rather than piggybacking on this thread and some members might not see you're wanting an ID.
