Is there an add on vertical vice that you can clamp into a horizontal vice for different situations?

Nope. Like a HT10 vice you can clamp into the vice on a frantom 18.

That seems like going backwards. I doubt anyone makes something like that, but with some allthread, some bar stock, and a couple nuts one could be fabricated, just make the bottom bar a little longer and clamp it in with the vice. May even be possible to drill a couple holes and thread them right in the existing vice base, but right now I don't have time to go look at my FranTom 18. are you wanting to cut something too big for the vice, or is there another reason you want to have a clamp bar? I have always found them to not be as good as a bookend style vice.

One reason would be to be able to cut stuff that will not go in the book end vice nicely which would work with your set up with the tail on the top jaw, and another would be to be able to get up to the blade with material without having to stop 10 feet out from the blade.

Guess I would have to see it. You might google toe clamps as well, I had a hydraulic saw with a clamp down bar that had several additional threaded holes on the carriage that probably could have used them. If the FranTom is like a HP saw the entire vice, both sides, will unbolt from the carriage so it could be replaced with just about anything. I'll try to look tomorrow, right now time to go to work.
